Many pathological mood states such as depression, mania, anxiety and obsession, neurological conditions such as parkinson's dicease and alzhimer's and impulse control disorders such as kleptomania, compulsive shopping and pathological gambling are known to affect financial decision making. Depression is associated with risk aversion, mania with investing overconfidence, anxiety with "analysis paralysis" and compulsions with over trading. Interstingly all these disorders can be treated with medications.
